Carl Robert Lee, 87, of Sheridan, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born November 2, 1931 in Estes Park, Colorado to Charles and Maggie (Krout) Lee.  He married Ella Ann Dannels on July 15, 1950.

Carl started working at Frickey’s Sheet Metal at age 13. After 39 years at Frickey’s he started his own company, “Lee Metal Works.”  He retired at 65 and his son bought the company.  He was a master craftsman with his hands when it came to metal, he could do anything.

He enjoyed gold prospecting in Alaska, Montana, South Dakota, Washington, Oregon and Wyoming.  Carl loved fishing and hunting in the Big Horns and Cody.  In his earlier days, he loved to ride his motorcycle and horses.  He enjoyed spending time with his boys and his son-in-law Bruce, hunting, fishing and gold prospecting.  They all learned how to work on cars and the sheet metal trade from him.

Carl was a member of the Gold Prospecting Association (GPAA), Sheridan Motorcycle Club, and the Gold Prospectors – Sheridan Chapter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Lester and Chuck Lee, and sister, Hazel Hoffman.  Carl is survived by his wife, Ella Ann; sons, Carl George Lee (Veronica Trabert), Dan Lee (Cathy Catania); and Jim Lee (Ann Hitchcock); daughter, Dixie (Bruce) Adsit; nine grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Champion Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 7, 2018 at Champion Funeral Home with Bud Lee officiating.  Interment will follow in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.  Online condolences may be written at www.championfh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of Champion Funeral Home.
