Buffalo’s outdoor pool is opening a week early and that’s good news for pool lovers seeking respite from the hotter than normal temperatures.

The pool was scheduled to open on June 19th, but a decision has been made to open a week early.

Of course, beginning this season the nation’s largest outdoor pool will no longer be free.

The fee schedule was set at $3/day, although children under the age of 3 accompanied by an adult will not be charged.  Residents over the age of 65 and veterans will also not be charged for access to the pool.

Season passes will be available for $50 for an individual or $80 for a family of four.

In recent days, a number of businesses have created opportunities for season pass “scholarships” for families who might benefit from a break in the daily fees for children and other family members.

Compass Center for Families has agreed to serve as a “clearing house” for local donors who wish to provide additional scholarships, according to Kassahn Mathson…

For anyone seeking scholarships, there will be no application to fill our or no proof of financial need.
