Buffalo Police Chief Jason Carder and Johnson County Sheriff Rod Odenbach presented a Memorandum of Understanding to both the Johnson County Commission and the Buffalo City Council earlier this week.

The purpose of the MOU is to legally extend the police department coverage to a mile outside the city limits to ensure quick law enforcement coverage for a variety of issues such as suicides, drug and alcohol cases, and child endangerment situations.

City Attorney Ben Kirven and County Deputy Attorney Barry Crago played a role in developing the MOU, which was approved by both the Commission and the city council.
