A black bear was sighted in the West Loucks/North Badger area of Sheridan on Wednesday night.
The Sheridan Police Department responded to a call around 10pm and located the bear as it ran west to the creek, continuing west leaving the residential area.
Earlier this week, the Wyoming Game & Fish Department had issued a statement on an increased number of bear sightings in residential areas all along the face of the Bighorn Mountains, from Buffalo to Dayton.
No further sightings were reported and officers continued to monitor the area throughout the night.

Sheridan Wildlife Biologist Tim Thomas warns that by allowing bears to get a food reward conditions them to associate people with food and this may lead to dangerous or destructive behaviors.
By immediately reporting incidents, Game and Fish can address the cause of the conflict and hopefully prevent it from happening again.
