Agnes C. Songer passed away on Thursday, September 13 at the age of 90.

Agnes was born in Sheridan, Wyoming on September 2, 1928 to Joseph and Mary Ballek. She attended Holy Name Catholic School through eighth grade, followed by Sheridan High School. In 1946 she met Floyd A. Songer at a roller skating rink and, as she liked to tell it, they had “been going around ever since.” They fell in love and were married on June 18, 1949. Together they raised four children, Diana, Dan, Dennis, and Don. In her leisure time, she enjoyed participating in the local Pettikote Bowling League. Her spiritual life was so important to her that she volunteered her time at Holy Name Catholic School while her children were younger.

Agnes always felt that her greatest accomplishment in her life was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Whether she was attending a function in support of her husband, Floyd, nursing sick children and grandchildren through illnesses, attending countless school and sporting events for her children and grandchildren, or just sitting around the kitchen table talking with her family, the love and support she gave over the years will always be remembered and cherished.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd of 61 years, and her brothers Anton, Joseph, John, and Frank Ballek.

Agnes is survived by her four children: Diana Nipps (Jim) of Sheridan and her daughters Christie Lee (Dale) of Sheridan and Jennifer Castro (Charlie) of Fontana, CA; Dan Songer (Vicky) of Gilbert, AZ and his daughter Heather Songer of Puyallup, WA; Dennis Songer (CynDee) and his sons Dustin and Dalton of Sheridan and daughter Samantha Songer of Casper, WY; Don Songer (Linda) and his daughters Chelsie Songer and Alecia (Matt) Johnson, all of Sheridan, WY; three great-grandchildren, Mariah Castro, Alexis Barrett, and Karter Bunso; one brother, Jim Ballek (Athena) of San Jose, CA.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, September 17, 2018, at Holy Name Church with Father Glenn Whewell officiating. A reception will follow immediately in the parish hall with interment to follow in the Sheridan Elks Memorial Cemetery.
