Current estimates suggest that more than 1 million eclipse spectators visited the Cowboy State over the weekend and into Monday for the much-publicized celestial event.

Most of the major highways across the state resembled rush hour traffic in large urban areas as a number of those travelers caught a glimpse of the solar eclipse as it passed the state just before noon on Monday.

According to the Wyoming Department of Transportation, the state’s overall traffic increased by more than 536,000 vehicles in comparison to a five-year average.
