Legislative Update

Last week, Governor Matt Mead asked the 64^th Wyoming Legislature to form a task force to study the shortfall in educational funding.
In his estimate, the deficit in education is nearly $1.5 billion over the next 6 years beginning with the 2019-2020 biennium.
It is a dark cloud hanging over every legislator as they meet in session this month.
Representative Bo Biteman had this to say last Friday…
The concept of establishing a task force would take time and would result in the Governor calling for another session later in the year.
State Senator Dave Kinskey believes the legislators will find a workable solution and doesn’t believe waiting to deal with the issue is what is needed…
As Biteman suggested, there is no magic bullet.
